Windsbacher Knabenchor — »Bach: Weihnachtsoratorium« at Philharmonie Berlin
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Grosser Saal
About the Event
Christmas trees, candles, presents, and ideally snow too – the list of things that many people consider essential for Christmas could certainly go on, but while the latter is not necessarily guaranteed, there is one tradition you can rely on every year: the Christmas Oratorio. At the end of the “Bach Year” 2025 – marking the 275th anniversary of the composer's death and his 340th birthday – it will be that time again in mid‐December, when timpani, woodwinds, brass instruments, and a polyphonic choir joyfully proclaim the birth of Jesus.
The oratorio, which premiered in Leipzig in 1734, creates a festive atmosphere that is not to be missed during this season of love. Conducted by Ludwig Böhme, the Windsbach Boys' Choir and renowned soloists will sing, accompanied by the La Folia Baroque Orchestra.
