Raphaela Gromes & Judith Rakers at Philharmonie Berlin
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Kammermusiksaal
About the Event
With her album “Femmes,” Raphaela Gromes presented female composers from the Middle Ages to the present day, landing at number 1 on the classical charts. The cellist is now continuing this project in “Fortissima!”, selecting works by female composers such as Hildegard von Bingen, Maria Szymanowska, Henriëtte Bosmans, Nadia Boulanger, and Victoria Yagling. In addition, Raphaela Gromes – together with musicologist Susanne Wosnitzka – wrote a book in which she reports on her journey of discovery to these very composers.
Together with pianist Julian Riem, the artist is now presenting the project on the concert stage, enriched by excerpts from her book read by popular journalist and television presenter Judith Rakers in the chamber music hall of the Berlin Philharmonic.
