About the Event
Anyone who can call an asteroid after themselves has long since reached (musical) heaven. This is the case with Philippe Jaroussky, who was bestowed this rare honor with the celestial body 332183. For over 20 years, the French singer has been delighting his audience with sensitive interpretations and a performance style that is both nuanced and dramatic. Rarely do technical perfection and expressive power intertwine as brilliantly as they do with Jaroussky.
Despite his dream career, the virtuoso—who has been named an “Officier des Arts et des Lettres”—finds time for social engagement. He enables financially disadvantaged musical talents to receive training at the Académie Musicale, which he founded: “I want to help them figure out for themselves what they really want to do and show them a path forward” (Concerti). In Berlin, he devotes himself, together with the Artaserse ensemble, to “his” Vivaldi, whose work has been to him from the very beginning a treasure chest full of gems waiting to be discovered anew.
