About the Event
Conceived as a wedding gift for his wife—for whom he wrote the soprano solos—Mozart’s Mass in C minor was not composed as an official commission but as a private vow to Constanze. Today, it is regarded, alongside the equally unfinished Requiem, as Mozart’s most significant sacred work, combining Baroque splendor with the emotional depth of the Viennese Classical period. Arvo Pärt’s “Te Deum,” whose aesthetic simplicity leaves a lasting impression, will also be performed. Behind the austerity of his compositions lies great sensuality. Despite the radical reduction of its expressive means, Pärt’s music demands the utmost care in its execution from the performers.
