About the Event

Martha Argerich returns to Berlin to celebrate the foundation's commitment to the next generation of musicians. The concert brings together internationally renowned artists and emerging talents and honors Argerich's unique influence on the music world. At the same time, it underscores the foundation's mission: to shape the future of classical music through mentoring, innovation, and inspiring collaboration.

The evening unfolds in an atmosphere of cultivated intimacy, carried by Argerich's unmistakable presence. In a tension between the formal rigor of the Philharmonie and the directness of a chamber music salon, she brings together a group of artists across generations and geographical boundaries. No one is there by chance each is drawn by the depth of artistic conviction that Argerich embodies. Her return to Berlin is more than a concert it is a living conversation between tradition and innovation—both personal and universal.

Artists

Piano, Violoncello da Spalla: Martha Argerich

Although she tends to avoid the limelight, Argentine pianist Martha Argerich is widely recognized as one of the great piano virtuosos of our time.

Argerich was still in her teens when she won both the Geneva International Music Competition and the Ferruccio Busoni International Competition. In 1965, she triumphed at the seventh International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. Since then, she has become one of the foremost pianists in the world, performing primarily concerto and chamber music repertoire, but also giving the occasional solo recital.
