Le Concert Olympique
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Kammermusiksaal
About the Event
His teacher, Alfred Brendel, saw him as a child prodigy and described him as “the greatest musical talent he had ever encountered.” In fact, Kit Armstrong is not only musically versatile: from an early age, he studied composition and the natural sciences alongside piano, and he speaks several languages. The pianist captivates audiences as a versatile keyboard artist with an extraordinary interpretive skill and a virtuoso’s imagination. Speaking of Beethoven, he says that his work represents humanity in all its facets. Against this backdrop, Armstrong meets conductor Jan Caeyers, a Beethoven specialist and biographer as well as the music director of the Belgian orchestra “Le Concert Olympique.” Their four‐year project, “Beethoven27,” musically traces Beethoven’s life and work across 27 European cities and will run through 2027—each concert serving as a multifaceted portrait drawn from symphonies, piano concertos, and sonatas.
