About the Event

Experience waltzes in the inimitable Viennese style, intoxicating polkas and snappy marches with our “Waltz Dreams” program. Sometimes mischievous and sometimes indulgent, the Dresden Residence Orchestra presents a colorful program with works by Franz Lehár and Johann Strauss, among others. Our charming soprano Jennifer Riedel takes you on a journey back in time to the golden era of operetta, full of Viennese charm and pure musical joy. The young, dynamic musicians of the Dresden Residence Orchestra, who are internationally renowned and bring their own arrangements of great well‐known works to the stage with virtuosity and classicism, will be delighted to perform. A festive, lively gala concert that musically invites you to dance and is a lot of fun to listen to. The special feature of the gala concert “Waltz Dreams” is of course our great soprano.

Jennifer Riedel:
The coloratura soprano comes from Pulsnitz, near the Saxon state capital of Dresden. She studied singing at the Karlsruhe University of Music with Marga Schiml until 2010, followed by postgraduate studies in opera singing with Christiane Libor until 2013. Since the 2011/12 season, Jennifer Riedel has made guest appearances at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, the Staatstheater in Munich and the Staatsoperette Dresden, among others. Here she appeared as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte”. In 2014, the young soprano made her debut at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden in the German premiere of Ronnefeld's “Nachtausgabe” as Renée Pachulke. This was followed by Barbarina in Mozart's “Le nozze di Figaro”. In 2018, Jennifer Riedel made her debut at the Easter Festival in Salzburg and also returned to the Semperoper Dresden. She has been working with the Dresden Residence Orchestra since the beginning of 2019 and has also delighted audiences in “Figaro's Wedding with a difference”, “Waltz Dreams” and many other beautiful programs.
