Berliner Symphoniker: Magic & Dance
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Grosser Saal
About the Event
Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies and rhythmic brilliance at the Philharmonie Berlin with the Berliner Symphoniker's Magic & Dance.
Inspired by his childhood memories of the Sinti and Roma music from his homeland, Zoltán Kodály composed 'Dances of Galánta,' while Melanie Bonis’s Suite en forme de valses showcases French lightness and elegance. This dance‐like music is juxtaposed with Paul Dukas's tension‐filled composition, 'The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,' set to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s ballad.
Ralph Vaughan Williams’ 'Norfolk Rhapsody No. 1' draws from folk songs the composer gathered in a Norfolk fishing village. The program concludes with George Gershwin’s seldom‐performed Piano Concerto in F—brimming with poetry, rhythm, and wit.
