In the last frost of Berlin's winter, Christian Gerhaher sings Schubert's chilling Winterreise song cycle together with Daniel Barenboim at new Pierre Boulez Saal.

Based on poems by Wilhelm Müller, Schubert's Winterreise ('Winter Journey') is a desperate and shadowy cycle, interspersed with bursts of hopeful light. Christian Gerhaher is among today's most competent interpreters of this repertoire.
