About the Event

Experience Bruckner's Ninth Symphony and a late composition by Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu, performed by the Tonkünstler Orchestra and sho player Mayumi Miyata.

Bruckner intended to dedicate his last symphony to 'the Dear Lord' which makes it sound like a farewell. The composer died before he was able to finish his composition.

Farewell is also the topic of Toru Takemitsu's latest composition 'Ceremonial. An Autumn Ode' in which the sound of western instruments is combined with the Japanese mouth organ, the sho.
