Baritone Peter Mattei sings Schuberts' Winterreise: Oslo Opera House

The Swedish baritone Peter Mattei interprets Schubert’s immortal song cycle Die Winterreise, together with pianist Lars David Nilsson.

His voice has been compared to Jussi Björlings and he is in high demand at such opera houses as La Scala, The Metropolitan Opera and Covent Garden. The Norwegian public can hear him once again – with Franz Schubert’s beautiful song cycle on the program.

Peter Mattei has established himself as one of the most sought‐after singers. He has also established his own annual music festival in his home town of Luleå – The Mattei Festival. He has worked with composers such as Sir George Solti, Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly, James Levine, Antonio Pappano and Zubin Mehta, and has performed in several of the world’s greatest opera houses. He has performed Don Giovanni, one of his favourites, at the Metropolitan Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro alla Scala, and Bayerische Staatsoper. He has also recorded a number of DVD’s and CDs. Peter Mattei has visited The Norwegian National Opera in Don Giovanni, and in Don Carlo in Bjørvika in 2008.
