About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Amsterdam's breathtaking De Waalse Kerk for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of music.

In spring 2022, Daria will release the unanimously outstandingly received album Human: Nature, an Imaginary Suite. With this intense program, she explores the meaning of nature for various composers and concludes this season's Bösendorfer Series in spectacular fashion. Van den Bercken makes Rachmaninov's Lilacs bloom and the piano shines like a diamond in Debussy's Reflets dans l'eau. Liszt wrote in the margin of his score of the pondering Vallée d'Obermann, 'What do I expect from nature? This question from the 19th century is at odds with the blistering and propulsive protest piece Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues by the recently deceased Frederic Rzewski, which voices the industry of South Carolina in the 1930s. Written in 1979, this work is currently more topical than ever.

Dutch‐Russian pianist Daria van den Bercken is acclaimed for her fresh way of bringing piano music to life. She studied at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Mila Baslawskaya and Naum Grubert. She won the Dutch Classical Talent Award in 2006 and 2008 and the prestigious Amsterdam Art Prize in 2012.
