Astor Piazzolla meets Ute Lemper

For 30 years, Ute Lemper has been celebrated from London’s West End to Broadway for her unparalleled performances, her original compositions and appearances in musicals and plays. She made her name interpreting works by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, but also Marlene Dietrich, Édith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré, Jacques Prévert and Nino Rota. For her Dresden Music Festival concert, the singer has selected another outstanding programme: in 2021 the great tango master Astor Piazzolla would have celebrated his 100th birthday, and Ute Lemper pays homage to his life’s work. Together with her ensemble, the exceptional singer travels to 1950s Paris, tracing the footsteps of Tango Nuevo in the French capital.
