Hailing from Northern India, she has since developed her own unique style of playing the 21‐string instrument, using classical Indian music as her foundation to venture into creative collaborations. With an impressive nine Grammy nominations, Shankar has collaborated with notable artists such as George Harrison, Sting, and her half‐sister Norah Jones. She has graced the stage with the Berlin Philharmonic and worked alongside flamenco ensembles and American DJs. For Shankar, cross‐cultural and cross‐genre exchange with fellow artists holds great importance and signifies mutual respect. This international approach is crucial in today's world.
