An Opera for Three Kings: A Century of Music at Versailles

About the Event

Immerse yourself in the music of the French Court, surrounded by its splendors. The Center for Baroque Music at Versailles creates a pastiche of operatic works from the reigns of Louis XIV, XV, and XVI, amid the glories of the Royal Opera.

Combining extracts from familiar works by Lully, Rameau and Gluck with lesser‐known works by composers such as Destouches, Royer, Dauvergne, Mondonville or Philidor, virtuosic arias, radiant chorales and opulent orchestral interludes illustrate the rich royal heritage of music over a century at the theatres of Saint‐Germain, Fontainebleau and Versailles.
