Carl Nielsen is widely recognized as Denmark's greatest composer. Unlike his later works, the violin concerto has a distinct, melodic Neo‐Classical structure. Sibelius’ Symphony No.1, different from his later works, is still unmistakably a masterpiece.

As Asia’s oldest orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra brought Western classical music to China.
