Celebrate Chinese music and culture with this program 'made in China'!

Xu Shuya evokes the Mongolian landscape and their uninterrupted purity in his San. Peter Eötvös's Chinese Opera, though it contains no vocal parts, is (in the composer's own words) an attempt to make the music 'speak'. Wenchen Qin's The Sun Shadow VIII (for piccolo, oboe, clarinet, and percussion) completes the program along with the premiere of Finnish composer Jukka Tiensuu's new work for sheng (Chinese mouth orgran) and ensemble.
