About the Event
In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Strauss, Mahler and Britten at Berlin's treasured and world‐renowned Konzerthaus.
The concerts of the NJO Dutch Youth Orchestra have long been one of the reliable highlights of the Young Euro Classic Festival. With excellent musical support in our neighbouring country, the quality is simply obvious with the NJO. Added to this are ambitious, exciting programmes and promising young Dutch musicians. Two of them will be presenting at the Konzerthaus this summer: Violinist Coraline Groen presents Britten's Violin Concerto, a work in which the 26‐year‐old already showed his outstanding talent in 1939. In turn, young soprano Laetitia Gerards sings the solo part in Mahler's Fourth Symphony, which also sets the orchestra a rewarding task with numerous mood changes. On the podium, the British Alexander Shelley — as he has already experienced several times in the Konzerthaus — is guaranteed to provide an optimal combination with the young musicians.
