Wynton Marsalis & Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at Junge Garden Dresden
About the Event
The jazz trumpet player Wynton Marsalis is among the most dazzling virtuosos of his instrument. For thirty years, the recipient of nine Grammy Awards and Pulitzer Prize winner has been the leader of New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The mission of this ensemble of fifteen world‐class musicians and its bandleader is to maintain the heritage of American jazz, while also lending a contemporary note to classical swing music. Following in the footsteps of their role models Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie and Louis Armstrong, the artists pursue their mission on tours around the world and in school encounters. At the Dresden Music Festival’s final concert at the Junge Garde, the audience can look forward to an enticing sample of the art of this unique formation.
