About the Event
Wolfgang Haffner's journey in the world of jazz began when he was just 18 years old. It was Albert Mangelsdorff, the legendary German jazz trombonist, who discovered his talent and set his career in motion. This initial encounter propelled Haffner into a trajectory of success, with renowned artists such as Doldinger, Chaka Khan, Pat Metheny, and the Brecker Brothers collaborating with him over the years.
Even today, Haffner continues to work with prominent musicians like Till Brönner, Nils Landgren, and Thomas Quasthoff. Beyond his own musical pursuits, he has also embraced a mentoring role, guiding and inspiring young jazz musicians who are paving their own paths.
What sets Haffner apart as a drummer is his keen ability to listen and connect harmoniously with his fellow musicians. Whether he's using brushes or sticks, playing in a combo or a big band, his focus remains on the melodies and harmonies that form the backbone of the music. This dedication to creating strong and beautiful musical moments is at the core of Haffner's approach to his craft.
