William Forsythe & Johan Inger: Paris Opera Ballet
Paris, Palais Garnier
About the Event
The Paris Opera Ballet at Garnier presents two pieces by William Forsythe and Johan Inger. William Forsythe pushes the boundaries of academic dance with both works. "Rearray," originally created for Sylvie Guillem and Nicolas Le Riche, is reworked for the Ballet's dancers, while "Blake Works I" celebrates classical technique with fractured lines and geometric perfection set to music by James Blake.
In his Paris Opera debut, Swedish choreographer Johan Inger blends classical and contemporary movements in "IMPASSE." This piece explores the dynamic between the individual and the group, suggesting that strength comes from unity. The performances also showcase the power of collective dance, starting with the Dèfilè du Ballet.
