Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
The Rome Opera (Teatro dell´Opera di Roma) stands as a prestigious opera house nestled in the heart of Rome. Constructed in a swift 18 months, it opened its doors in 1880 with Gioachino Rossini's Semiramide taking center stage. Its exceptional acoustics are a result of its design as a 'resonance chamber,' providing an ideal setting for absorbing the full spectrum of musical performances. The architectural design by Sfondrini features a horseshoe layout, while the dome boasts exquisite frescoes by Annibale Brugnoli. Accommodating a crowd of 2,212, the main theater includes three tiers of boxes, two galleries, and an amphitheater, all designed to enhance the audience's experience.
Giacomo Puccini
Giacomo Puccini, hailing from Italy, was a seminal opera composer in the waning years of the 19th century. Among the pantheon of Italian opera composers, he was revered, ranking just behind the illustrious Verdi. Initially, Puccini's compositions mirrored the conventional romantic ethos typical of 19th-century Italian opera. However, his artistic direction soon embraced the vivid verismo style, which stirred him to create his most celebrated masterpieces, positioning him at the forefront of this movement. His most acclaimed operas include La bohème (1896), Tosca (1900), Madama Butterfly (1904), and Turandot (1924), each continuing to grace the stages of the world's most distinguished classical music venues.
