Three Pianists — Three Worlds at Gewandhaus Leipzig

About the Event

Step back into history and experience the grandeur of piano music at the beautiful Gewandhaus in Leipzig.

Three pianists from the classical, jazz and tango styles take turns to show their skills in very different episodes: as soloists, in interplay with other musicians and singers and in a dialogue of piano and dance. In the last piece of the evening, the three musicians play a six‐hand medley of the three different styles, thus bringing the concert to a fitting conclusion.

Practical Information

The programme includes works by Brahms, Ellington, Piazzolla, Saint‐Saëns, Mack David, Fleury and others, as well as original compositions by the three pianists. It features a minor waltz by Chopin danced with free elements, improvised jam sessions, Latin American rhythms by the tango trio, sensual dancing by the tango dance couple, pure joie de vivre by the swing dancers and a fantasy of a sonata by Domenico Scarlatti accompanied by castanets.
