'The King's Flute'

About the Event

Frederick the Second, called 'the Great', was an enthusiastic flutist, and it is said that his teacher Joachim Quantz was the only one at court who was allowed to criticise the king. The Brandenburg Summer Concerts celebrate the king and his instrument, the flute, with a matinee by one of Berlin's best flutists, Kornelia Brandkamp. The concert will take place in the French Church in the heart of Potsdam, built by Friedrich's architect von Knobelsdorff in the style of a 'temple'.
