Symphony of a Thousand at Municipal House
About the Event
When the chief conductor Tomáš Brauner and I were thinking about which opus should open the 90th season of the Prague Symphony, we naturally considered only exceptional pieces. Until it came almost in a whisper, for it was with full respect: the Symphony of a Thousand, Gustav Mahler's Eighth Symphony. A symphony that is all‐encompassing, a symphony in which the longing for the reconciliation of the world, for redemption through love, gushes from so many throats and heroines. That is why we have invited reinforcements from different parts of Europe to the extended stage of the Smetana Hall, so that the jubilee season can begin on a truly sublime note, or Spirit of the Creator, come!
