About the Event

International opera stars launch London's newest classical song series held in the intimate space of the ''Jewel of the Strand'', St Mary le Strand. These five recitals will cover a broad spectrum of composers, from Scottish folksongs, Vaughan Williams songs of Travel, Schubert lieder and Rossini's Cat Duet to a tribute to Rachmaninov's 150th Anniversary.
Described by the New York Times as ''Fabulously Poignant'' the incredible internationally known Tenor Thomas Walker and pianist Annabel Thwaite share a beautifully heart wrenching programme of Beethoven, Strauss and Scottish song as they explore ''Love and Longing''.

About the performers:
Tom Walker was born in Glasgow and studied brass at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and singing with Ryland Davies at the Royal College of Music. Over the last two decades he has performed a vast range of repertoire from JS, JC and CPE Bach, through Handel, Gluck and Mozart, to Beethoven, Janáček, Honegger and Britten. Thomas recently made his debut at both Opéra national de Paris and the Staatsoper Berlin as Adam in Scarlatti Il Primo Omicidio. Other recent roles include Admeto in Gluck Alceste at the Ruhr Triennale and Rinaldo in Haydn Armida on tour with the Basel Chamber Orchestra. He has recorded a wide variety of repertoire including Janáček choral works and Beethoven Missa Solemnis with Cappella Amsterdam conducted by Daniel Reuss Bach Magnificats with Arcangelo and Jonathan Cohen and Honegger Le Roi David with Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne and Daniel Reuss.
