Established as Boiodurum by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, Passau played a considerable part in German history. The city's main attraction is the St.Stephen's Cathedral (German: Passauer Stephandsdom), which was built in the Italian Baroque Style, by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago and decorated by Carpoforo Tencalla. The Stephansom is famous for its large church pipe organ and concerts are held daily between May and September.
