Enjoy beautiful classical music in the medieval Hohensalzburg Fortress (Festung Hohensalzburg). Built in 1077, Hohensalzburg Fortress is the largest, best-preserved fortress in central Europe. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the Festung Hohensalzburg was enlarged and  the fortress' interior was richly decorated: Gothic wood-carvings and ornamental paintings garnish the Golden Hall and the Golden Chamber. The view from the Fortress, which can be reached by cable car or a short  climb up the mountain, is breathtaking.
