Purcell: songs and dances
About the Event
Henry Purcell literally sublimated the popular roots of English music (notably the dances), with sublime melodies and a striking harmonic art.
With their poetic proverbial sense, but also an exhilarating rhythmic vigour, François Lazarevitch and his accomplices pay a magnificent tribute to the Orpheus britannicus, with the complicity of Tim Mead, one of the most exciting countertenors of the current scene.
Songs : O Solitude, Cold Song, Stricke the Viol, One Charming Night…
Dances : Pavan, Minuett, Hornpipe, Fantazia upon a ground, Chaconne…
