Pletnev, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, Wellber: Beethoven, Sheperd at Kulturpalast

About the Event

The discography of Mikhail Pletnev, who won the Gold Medal and First Prize of the International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow in 1978 at the age of only 21, comprises more than 100 recordings, many of them considered benchmarks. Together with the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini from Parma, he will interpret the famous Piano Concerto No. 1 by Tchaikovsky, under the baton of the charismatic Israeli conductor Omer Meir Wellber. In addition, two further instantly recognizable classics by Verdi and Wagner will be played, the overtures to »I vespri siciliani« and »Tannhäuser«, before the concert ends with a work by an Italian grand master of modernism: Respighi’s »Metamorphoseon« of 1930.
