Pianist Hélène Grimaud is one of the pre‐eminent artists of our time: the French musician living in the USA not only plays her instrument with passion, a strong poetic expressivity and incomparable technical mastery, but she is also a committed environmentalist, compassionate human rights advocate and author. In music – particularly that of the romantic era – the artist finds multiple references to nature, and so one credo of the sensitive pianist is: »Listening to music means listening to nature.« She has moved the Dresden Music Festival audience to raving applause several times. This time, her programme features works by Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, and thus Grimaud’s sophisticated interpretations of the classical and romantic repertoire.
