About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of London's breathtaking Southbank Centre for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of classical music.

The esteemed Philharmonia Orchestra collaborates with an ensemble of illustrious soloists for Verdi’s thunderous Requiem.

Verdi channeled his unmatched prowess in portraying deep human emotions into this monumental choral work. The ‘Dies Irae’ pulses with raw intensity, while the 'Tuba Mirum' bursts forth with majestic grandiosity, signaled by the commanding notes of eight trumpets. In contrast, the ‘Sanctus’ emanates with jubilant exaltation, and the 'Agnus Dei' commences with a hauntingly beautiful duet between the soprano and mezzo soloists.

Guiding this musical journey is Principal Conductor Santtu‐Matias Rouvali, inaugurating the Philharmonia's season with this iconic 19th‐century composition. Among the ensemble is the remarkable Welsh‐Ukrainian soprano, Natalya Romaniw, celebrated for her 'sumptuously sung' (as hailed by The Guardian) performance as the lead in Tosca at the Royal Opera House the previous year.
