Paris Choral Society: Into the Light in Eglise Saint‐Eustache

About the Event

Paris Choral Society shall perform the great choral symphony of 19th century German composer Felix MENDELSSOHN, as well as the shimmering TE DEUM of recently‐deceased Swedish composer Sven‐David SANDSTRÖM in June 2022.
These concerts will take place in the historic Eglise Saint‐Eustache so that two spectacular organ transcriptions can be performed on one of the world’s greatest organs. With 8,000 pipes, the organ is the largest pipe organ in France, surpassing the organs of Saint‐Sulpice and Notre‐Dame de Paris.

Mendelssohn’s Choral Symphony (“Lobgesang”, meaning hymn of praise) stands as the composer’s most ambitious symphonic achievement – one that figured during his lifetime as one of his most popular compositions.

Sandström’s TE DEUM was written for the annual inauguration of the Swedish Government 2008 in Stockholm’s Storkyrkan Cathedral, which since the 1300s, has been at the heart of religious and political life in Sweden.
