Palazzo Zeno: Opera meets Ennio Morricone

About the Event

In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear the mellifluous sounds of classical music by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Ennio Morricone at Venice's treasured and world‐renowned Palazzo Zeno.

The Zeno family, in collaboration with the I Musici Patavini association, invite you to enter the splendid halls of Palazzo Zeno to experience the great emotion of Italian opera. Each performance will introduce you to great artists and performers with the most beautiful arias from the operas of Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, and Morricone.
Come in as a family and take a seat in the charming halls of the Piano Nobile: the Musicanti di Palazzo Zeno are ready to welcome you for an unforgettable evening in their company.

Situated just a short walk from the Basilica dei Frari in the San Polo district, Palazzo Zeno was built in the late 14th century by Carlo Zeno, 'Capitano da mar,' hero of the war of Chioggia fought by Venice against Genoa. It later underwent various alterations, the most important and profound of which was the work of architect Antonio Gasparri, hired by Alessandro Zeno, ambassador of the Serenissima to the court of King Louis XV at Versailles.
All the rooms of the palace are frescoed and decorated with stucco work by the greatest artists of the time, such as Antonio Pellegrini, Jacopo Guarana, Abbondio Stazio, and Amigoni.
The Zeno family has played a major role in Venetian history since the time of the Serenissima: one of them was Doge (Renier Zeno, 1253) and other descendants were ambassadors, senators and cardinals.

The first part of the program will be dedicated to arias and duets from Giuseppe Verdi's 'La Traviata' and Giacomo Puccini's 'La Bohème' and 'Turandot'.
In the second part you will listen to Ennio Morricone’s most beautiful soundtracks. Morricone's music has been used for film masterpieces, including 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly', 'Once Upon a Time in America,' and 'A Fistful of Dollars.' The Italian composer's talent has been enshrined in two Oscars (2007 and 2016), three Golden Globe awards and many other awards and nominations for a total of 34 awards and 26 nominations.
