About the Event

Experience the awe‐inspiring architecture of Sydney's iconic Opera House as you immerse yourself in the ultimate concert that will awaken your appreciation for opera.

Journey with Orpheus into the depths of the underworld in Gluck's heart‐wrenching opera. As he bravely ventures into Hades to rescue his beloved Eurydice, he must resist the temptation to look back, or risk losing her forever.

Prepare to be captivated by the combination of breathtaking acrobatics and Gluck's exquisite music in this genre‐busting production, making it a standout event of the Sydney Festival. Surtitles are seamlessly integrated into the stage action through projections, allowing you to fully engage with the brilliant singers and trailblazing artists of Circa, one of Australia's most successful cultural exports.

Yaron Lifschitz, the Artistic Director of Circa, has crafted a visually stunning production that delves into the profound intersection between love and death at the core of Orpheus & Eurydice.

Prepare to be mesmerized by the vocal beauty and dramatic virtuosity of world‐renowned French countertenor Christophe Dumaux in the role of Orpheus. We are delighted to present him alongside Australian soprano Cathy‐Di Zhang, as she makes her role debut singing both Eurydice and Amor under the expert baton of conductor Dane Lam.

Opera Australia and Sydney Festival proudly present Opera Queensland's production of Orpheus & Eurydice in association with Circa. This collaboration promises to be a truly unforgettable experience.
