Indulge in a concert that presents two of the greatest works in the German canon. Celebrated violinist Anne Sophie Mutter plays Beethoven's Violin Concerto, and Sir Antonio Pappano leads the orchestra of the Accademia in Strauss' tone poem Ein Heldenleben.

Arguably at least semi‐autobiographical, Strauss' symphonic work, the title of which translates as 'A Hero's Life', is both hugely self‐referential, containing over thirty quotations from Strauss'earlier works, and an extraordinary exposition of the composer's art and experience. Immense in both scope and its demands on the orchestra, few other works encapsulate the German late‐Romantic experience so convincingly.
