In the famous Chiesa della Badia di Sant'Agata in Catania, the lovely sounds of classical music by Verdi, Bizet, Offenbach, Puccini, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Mascagni, Leoncavallo and Calì will be heard in a highly anticipated concert.

The Catania Chamber Orchestra specializes in the revival of the Italian operatic tradition. It was founded by orchestra professors who have studied at Sicily's most prestigious conservatories and is supported by Catania's most promising young people who have distinguished themselves at the most important national and international opera and symphony awards. In this 2023 music season, the Catania Chamber Orchestra offers an interesting cycle of opera concerts for small orchestra and voice.

The concerts are inspired by the works of the most important composer of Catania, Vincenzo Bellini, and put the audience in the context of the opera production of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in which the composer from Catania was active. From Mascagni to Verdi, from Rossini to Puccini, through Donizetti, Bizet and more, the concert offers an unforgettable journey through opera.

The concerts take place in the prestigious and monumental church of the Badia di Sant'Agata, built next to the cathedral where Maestro Bellini is buried. The Badia di Sant'Agata is characterized not only by its perfectly preserved precious interiors, but also offers a panoramic terrace, accessed by an internal elevator, from which you can enjoy a unique view of the wonderful city of Catania.
