About the Event
This New Year's Eve, Angelika Kirchschläger and Anne Sofie von Otter offer a journey through the musical world of Kurt Weill.
With the "Three Penny Opera", Weill wanted to create a work of musical theater out of loosely connected songs. Weill wanted to break down elitist barriers of art and to create theater that was popular and accessible, inspiring and educational. He accomplished his goal after his flight from Germany to the U.S., and he died a highly esteemed "American composer" in 1950.
