Beethoven started his musical career as a violinist and this can be heard in his Violin concert. It is a grand work, both in terms of time and the size of the orchestra. And it's exciting: full of capricious emotions and virtuoso challenges. With the Violin Concert Beethoven entered a new musical era, that of the romantic solo concert. Today violinist Maria Milstein makes his solemn statement to the Netherlands Youth Orchestra.

The Russian‐Dutch Maria Milstein has already won two Edisons and performs with renowned orchestras all over the world. But she also likes to work with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, which consists of over eighty enthusiastic young talents. Jurjen Hempel is leading two stormy pieces of music today. Next to Beethoven you can hear Prokofiev. In the suit version of his Romeo and Juliet he portrays the passion of two young lovers. But also the show of power of their important families and the sad consequences thereof. An evening full of drama and romance.
