The Alfredo Kraus Auditorium was opened on the 5th December 1997, and was named after the unforgettable tenor from Gran Canaria. The Symphonic and the Chamber Hall form the backdrop for frequent concerts, both classical and modern. At the beginning of each year some of the world's foremost orchestras and soloists assemble here for the Canary Islands' Music Festival, and throughout the year the Auditorium runs its own programme of concerts as well as those of the Las Palmas Philharmonic Society and the annual Jazz and Guitar Festivals: in total there are more than 100 concerts of music of all varieties. We must also underline the holding of the International Cinema Festival organised by the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
