La Bohème on New Year's Eve: Opera Australia Sydney

About the Event

Make this a glamorous and memorable New Year's celebration, with Gale Edwards' glittering production of Puccini's 'La Bohème' at Sydney Opera House.

Set in 1930s Berlin, the story unfolds in the color and chaos of street fairs and burlesque bars, fairylights and fishnet stockings. A painter, a musician, a philosopher, and a poet are having a night on the town. 'La Bohème' is a story about friendship and falling in love. It's about sacrifice and perseverence.

The interval is timed for the 9pm fireworks and the Sydney Opera House stays open well past the world‐famous midnight fireworks. There’s nowhere in the world like Sydney on New Year’s Eve and there’s nowhere closer to the action than Sydney Opera House.

This event can also be booked with an exclusive midnight party, beginning at 10:30pm. Enjoy canapés, drinks and live entertainment in the Northern Foyers of the opera.
