La Bohème: Deutsche Oper Berlin
About the Event
The Deutsche Oper Berlin presents Giacomo Puccini's 'La Bohème' in a production by Götz Friedrich.
The work documents the story of four young men voluntarily embracing a big‐city 'bohemian' lifestyle with its small joys and larger privations, and of two women who reluctantly do the same. Puccini's catchy and memorable music invites us to empathize with the protagonists. To glorify them would be to misread Puccini's intention and Götz Friedrich's detailed portrayal is a clear refusal to do so.
In Italian, with German and English surtitles.
