Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Ivân Fischer

About the Event

Explore the beauty of classical music at Konzerthaus Berlin, where masterworks by Stravinsky, Ligeti and Beethoven come to life in this incredible performance.

Iván Fischer once said of Igor Stravinsky that he had found 'new sounds, rhythms and harmonies, and above all a very intellectual, witty, humorous new style of music.' This includes the neoclassical ballet music 'Jeu de cartes,' which he conducts in this program opener. Bursting with black humor and absurdities is György Ligeti's opera 'Le Grand Macabre,' from which Anna‐Lena Elbert sings three coloratura arias of the head of the 'Secret Political Police' entitled 'Mysteries of the Macabre.'

To whom Beethoven intended to dedicate his Third Symphony, might have dedicated it, or what of it he might have taken back remains obscure. In any case, the work is still a hit with audiences today, and anyone who wants to can feel like a postmodern heroine of everyday life when Iván Fischer interprets the 'Eroica' with the Konzerthausorchester.
