Kirill Gerstein, Kammerakademie Potsdam at Philharmonie Berlin
Berlin, Philharmonie Berlin — Kammermusiksaal
About the Event
Robert Schumann's Third Symphony was composed during a joyous period in his life, capturing a mood of happiness and incorporating folk elements that exude a sense of 'Rhenish cheerfulness' through music.
Schumann hailed Concerto No. 4 as one of Beethoven's finest piano concertos, praising its lyrical qualities and symphonic, occasionally operatic, spirit. At the premiere in 1808, the audience was struck by a playful, contrasting dialogue between the orchestra and solo voice reminiscent of music from Gluck's opera 'Orfeo ed Euridice.'
The renowned pianist Kirill Gerstein, celebrated for his expressive playing, versatility, and virtuosity, collaborates with chief conductor Antonello Manacorda. This performance marks their debut together in Potsdam and Berlin, showcasing their musical chemistry and shared artistic vision.
