About the Event

Not just another opera diva! The American mezzo‐soprano Joyce DiDonato is among the greatest of her profession, and the self‐described »belligerent optimist« also tries to inspire thought with her programmes. Thus, her new project »Eden« presents a resounding statement on the beauty and fragility of our planet. Together with the ensemble il Pomo d’Oro under the baton of Maxim Emelyanychev, she sings about human feelings about nature, evoking the meaning of this Garden Eden we have been given. The result is a virtuoso combination of songs and arias ranging from Handel to Mahler, from de’ Cavalieri to Wagner, demonstrating how important the balance between humanity and nature is. DiDonato describes her vision as a »musical exploration through the centuries, trying to create a new Eden from within«.

»Eden«
Works by Emilio de’ Cavalieri, Aaron Copland, Christoph Willibald Gluck, George Frideric Handel, Charles Ives, Gustav Mahler, Josef Mysliveček, Rachel Portman, Marco Uccellini and Giovanni Valentini
