A German Requiem, to Words of the Holy Scriptures, Op. 45 by Johannes Brahms, is an impressive piece for chorus, orchestra, and soloists, completed between 1865 and 1868. With seven movements lasting 65 to 80 minutes, it is Brahms's longest work and largest ensemble piece. Unlike traditional Latin requiems, A German Requiem is sacred but not part of liturgical services and is performed in the German language.
