Jean Rondeau: Vertigo

About the Event

Jean Rondeau invites us to discover "Vertigo", famous virtuoso work by the underestimated master Pancrace Royer, presented in combination with well‐known compositions of Rameau.

Royer led an illustrious if brief career, the successes of which perhaps fueled his confidence when he feuded publicly with Rameau in 1742. Despite their differences, the two men shared one thing: they "recycled" themes and ideas from harpsichord to opera and from opera to harpsichord, both playing a major role in the French harpsichord school.
