Il Corsaro: Ballet at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
About the Event
Allow your imagination to be swept up in a swashbuckling romance based on the poem by Lord Byron. Among ballet's most virtuosic works, both male and female lead must be at the peak of their physical and interpretative powers. José Carlos Martínez choreographs a production especially for the Ballet of the Opera di Roma.
The Corsair, or pirate, Conrad is washed up on a beach following a shipwreck. Rescued by a group of maidens including the beautiful Medora, relief is short‐lived when the women are captured by Turkish slave traders. Conrad rescues Medora, and leads a raid on the Pasha Seid's palace to release the captive women of the harem and the other slaves.
