About the Event
The world‐famous Hungarian Folk Ensemble has offered a unique musical experience since 1952. Their performance is based on the tradition of century‐old gypsy folklore and music.
There are not many countries other than Hungary where the art of folk‐dancing carries such a high artistic level — there is even a college for studying traditional folk dances.
Hungary is a country known for the art of folk dancing. It boasts its own college dedicated to the study of folk dances, which can be seen firsthand during a 1.5‐hour folk performance. You will experience various music and dance repertoire in a unique and exciting venue, as the Danube Folk Ensemble, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble and Hungaria Folk Ensemble & Orchestra – 3 of the most highly regarded and professional Hungarian folk troupes – perform at either the Duna Palota theater or the Budai Vigadó theater.
Founded in the 1950s and boasting the longest traditions of all Hungarian folk groups, each ensemble consists of 30 artists. The choreographies are based on authentic dances, some collected from isolated villages and dating back hundreds of years. Through the performed dances, you get a broad view of the music, dance and costume heritage of Hungary and the Hungarian‐inhabited areas.
With their very successful shows, the ensemble has been on tours throughout Europe, North and South America, Australia and East Asia, fascinating a large number of audiences. Now back in their hometown, you can enjoy this folklore ensemble combining traditional music and dance for a brilliant show.
