Haydn, Mendelssohn, Strauss: Tetzlaff & Tonkünstler Orchestra
About the Event
The Tonkünstler Orchestra performs works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, and R. Strauss. The orchestra will be joined by internationally renowned violinist Christian Tetzlaff for this program in the Musikverein.
Yutaka Sado and the Tonkünstler Orchestra round off the Haydn theme of their first season together with ‘Le Soir’. A work which was considered no less innovative in its time is Felix Mendelssohn’s E‐minor Concerto. The solo part here will be taken on by the German violin virtuoso Christian Tetzlaff, one of the most sought‐after soloists in the world. To conclude, Richard Strauss’ tone poem ‘Ein Heldenleben’, first performed in 1899 and conducted by the composer, is a piece which makes the highest musical demands and is greeted by the Tonkunstler Orchestra as a welcome challenge.
